GENEROUS SPONSORS HELP PUMAS U8s KICK OFF
A string of Worcester-based businesses has helped kick-off a new under-8s football team in the city.
Property developer St Modwen, Spire South Bank Hospital, DNA Automotive and Stuart Rank Golf have all sponsored the new Nunnery Wood Colts Pumas U8s team, which plays its five-a-side matches in the Mercian Fortis Junior Football League.
The generous sponsorship money has helped the team buy a home strip, training tops, rain jackets, and bench coats to wear on the touchline.
James Irwin-Singer, Development Manager at St. Modwen, said: “We’re thrilled that the team is excited about its new kit and we’re looking forward to seeing them out on the pitch. As we deliver new industrial and logistics space at the neighbouring Nunnery Park, we’re committed to supporting young people into sports and to make a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of our local community.”
Pumas head coach, Steve Birch, said: “Setting up a new team can be costly, so the support from our sponsors means a great deal to everyone involved with the Pumas – coaches, parents and, of course, the boys, who play with real pride in their new kit.
“The team has been together for less than a year, but already there’s a great camaraderie amongst the boys – and the parents have already been out together on a social!”
The team is now recruiting players for U9s 2020/21 season; to find out more, contact Steve Birch on steven-birch@sky.com or call 07469 719720.
